[Bug 645305] Re: OPSH Trouble finding blender

I had the same problem when installing blender 2.54 from this PPA:-

http://ppa.launchpad.net/cheleb/blender-svn/ubuntu

However, it works when I downloaded the tar.gz from the blender website,
and pointed OpenShot to that path. So I thought maybe something was
missing from that PPA version. The version on my system installed from
that PPA is 2.54.0+svn32032~lucid1.

Looking at the installed files list (attached) you can see that the bpy
module is installed (/usr/share/blender/2.54/scripts/modules/bpy).

The only difference I can see is that the blender folder which was
downloaded includes .pyc files, and the files in my /usr/share folder do
not. I checked the archive file and that does not contain the .pyc
files. So they must be created at runtime. But this would obviously
fail for the files in /usr/share due to permissions. So could this be a
problem?

Ubuntu UE 2.7 (ubuntu 10.04) and Ubuntu netbook remix (10.04)

DEB & PPA

OpenShot 1.2.2

After i updated my version of blender with the PPA to 2.54 OpenShot Wouldn't recognize that i had blender installed,

I got round this problem by manually downloading the blender 2.54 archive - uncompressing it to my home folder - and pointing OpenShot to the executable in that folder.

I wouldn't normally point to this as a bug, but it randomly happened on 2 of my 3 machines o.O
