You should check all your dependencies and update at the last version (1.3.1) see here for that : http://openshotusers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=758
The version of MLT could provide this result but it was with the old version (serie 0.5.x). what is yours ?

  Effects don't work anymore

Status in OpenShot Video Editor:
  New

Bug description:
  I'm able to add them to the tracks, but they don't work properly.
  There's some kind of distortion with the colors on all effects
