Try to update your version of MLT (and the frei0r-plugins too at the same occasion ). You have the link for the sunab PPA.

  Effects don't work anymore

Bug description:
  I'm able to add them to the tracks, but they don't work properly.
  There's some kind of distortion with the colors on all effects
