Could you repeat this operation running Openshot in a terminal and put here t he result of this issue ?
What is your version of MLT ?

  Resize tool shuts down/crashes openshot

Status in OpenShot Video Editor:
  New

Bug description:
  Ubuntu 11.04 with gnome. Tried also with unity.
  Installed Openshot from ubuntu software center
  Openshot version 1.3.0

  When i try to resize a video from beginning with resize tool, Openshot
  totally shuts down.
