Two things.
1. update your version of openshot at the last i.e. 1.3.1
2. a bug is present for the preview in mlt and the correction will do in the version 0.7.4 More explanation here : https://bugs.launchpad.net/openshot/+bug/770316

Bug description:
  I am using:
  Linux Debian 6.0
  OpenShot 1.1.3
  Installed by Synaptic

  Here is the clip

  I play the clip by Gnome Mplayer.
  The length of the clip is 26:00 but Gnome Mplayer stop at 25:13.
  I guess this is the place that crash OpenShot.
