Did you create your own package information or did you use the one from
ubuntu as basis? I guess it would be best to start from [1] and [2].
These are the current packages in josm and therefore most recent. You
can download the source code package on the right side of [1] and [2]
and take a look at how they made it.

That's great! Would you share that with us? I would love to take a look

Of course it works. If you want more information, I guess it is best if

That's a great idea. Although I am not sure if it really works, because
you have to sign the packages with your gpg key before uploading, and
that would usually have to be done by hand - except if you use a gpg key
without a passphrase which is quite insecure.
