Sorry, that was an experiment that didnt quite turn out, I was trying to tell
the difference between a table created correctly and the one I had managed to
install previously that caused the NULL pointers.  It turned out that you cant
tell the difference easily between a prior table not having the attribute and
it being set to default, so it didnt work as intended. On the upside I am a
bit more familiar with the architecture of a storage plugin

In part I was also thinking ahead as to you how you might manage upgrades in
the future, as in a way that is what triggered the crash but on retrospect I
was probably getting ahead of myself...
