i am thinking toward a future in which all of the information required for
fully-informed civic participation would be publicly available and
editable.  here is a project that might help toward that end:

the general model here is faceted search - i.e. you want to know about data
objects that meet criteria from this facet (e.g. democrat, republican,
green), some other facet (california, arizona, nevada), another facet
(taxation, women's rights, electoral reform), and you can select multiple
values for each facet to narrow down the data set.
