I also get "Undefined video mode number: 317".
I'm on an Eee 701, using the puredyne-carrot_and_coriander-dev_USB_DVD.iso rsync'ed today (sat 14th nov) booting from a USB stick. Not sure if this is "c&c >= alpha6".

Bug description:
the grub default option "vga=791" won't let me boot, I get this error message
then pressing <space> works,

but I think for noobs it's better not having an error message at first boot ;)

removing "vga=791" from menu.lst fixes it (see wiki page)
