Hello Philip,

depending on the version, the application should remember this
automatically, i.e. every time you change the view mode, e.g. to fit-to-
page, this will be saved as the default for newly opened tabs. So if you
select fit-to-page once, it should become sort of a default for the
future.

This can however be overridden in several ways: If per-file settings is
enabled, the options for each particular file override these defaults.
Some PDF documents also request specific view modes when opened which
also overrides these defaults.

Hence there is no setting for an explicit default as the combination of
automatic default and per-file settings usually works well enough with
manual configuration.

P.S.: Zoom factor is used to determine how much the scale will change
zooming in or out.
