Re: SMS format comparison

Hi David,

I tested the dataformat:
SMSTO:<number>
and
SMSTO:<number>:<message>
with 12 free iPhone apps and 1 Maemo app.

There are five categories:

1) does handle both formats
2) does handle format without message and treats format with message as if
there was none
3) does handle format without message but treats format with message as if
message was part of the number
4) does handle format without message but refuses to do anything with a
message
5) does not handle either format

iPhone:
1) "Qrafter", "in-nigma", "Scan", "QRReader"
2) "QR Scan!"
3) "NeoReader"
4) "QR-Scanner+", "Bakodo",
5) "quick scan", "zbar", "QR Reader+", "Scan Life"

N900:
4) mbarcode

I think:
1) and 2) are ok [+1]
3) is strange [0]
4) is bad [-1]
5) is a bad app [0]

Currently it would be 5:3 for the message part.
Note however, that with mbarcode for the N900, I also tested the format:
sms:<number>?body=<message> and that works...

Do you have any android phone where you can test this as well?

Cheers,
Stefan
