The only time I have seen this is when I unknowingly have two
instances of RN running at the same time (I'm using Windows XP). This
can happen in Windows as it sometimes hides a program's icon on its
system tray, so I think RN is not running and I start a new instance
of it. Then if I write something in this new instance and exit, and if
I happen to go back to the old instance without thinking, it can then
save its older version of the same file and data is lost. This can
happen on one computer as described above, or on two computers if one
is using Dropbox to sync them and you're not careful, such as using
"close to system tray" on both of them at the same time, so they both
have the same file open.
At least the problem on one computer is to me a bug, it shouldn't let
me start two instances of RN at the same time I think.

I think I found a bug in the actual version. When I enter notes in
the actual day an close RedNotebook after it, without switching to
another day or program, the entry (or at least parts of it) is lost.
The same happens, when I turn off my computer and RedNotebook is
still active.
Anyone else has the same problem?
I use RedNotebook under Ubuntu UNE 10.10.
