On lucid (0.1.0-4ubuntu1), a test script fails with:

libnotify 0.5.0 in unstable/maverick apparently dropped support for 0.9
servers, and since libnotify 0.4.5 in lucid is over-patched to provide
the features of the 0.5 version, it fails as well.
