[Bug 684806] [NEW] [php-openid] Compatibility problems with PHP 5.3 (mod_php)

Public bug reported:

Imported from Debian bug 571803:

Package: php-openid
Version: 2.1.3-1
Severity: serious

As discussed in
http://lists.openidenabled.com/pipermail/dev/2010-January/001524.html
has serious issues with PHP 5.3. The main problem is the usage of dl()
by BigMath. BigMath is included by default when including php-openid.
mod_php doesn't support dl() anymore. Moreover, the call to dl uses the
@ operator, which has the fun effect that Apache gives a 200 OK return
code. This will probably confuse many people that don't know PHP
debugging tools.

There are some patches available. The project is looking close to dead.
I think it would be unfortunate if php-openid was removed, but something
needs to be done.
