SchoolTool Implementation Group To: "Mr. Tom Hoffman" <hoffman@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Tom Hoffman Project Manager Schooltool Dear Mr. Hoffman, Since October, 2009, our school, Maryhill College, Inc., have been evaluating SchoolTool and have found it most appropriate for our needs. Now, we have decided to try and implement it in parallel with our present system for the coming school year 2010–2011 beginning in June. However, there is one major problem, we are unable to see how we can fit the results of SchoolTool into the reports required by the Department of Education. Maryhill College, Inc. (maryhillcollege.edu.ph) is a small Parochial School in Lucena City, Philippines. We offer preschool education (ages 4-6), Grade School (grades 1-6), High School (1st-4th year), and College Courses (offering: nursing, education, accountancy, and business administration). We have a total student population of about 2,300, the bulk of which is in the Basic Education Department (Preschool, Grade School, and High School). The Department of Education is requiring us to implement a Computerized Student Information System (CSIS). We have been offered several custom-built CSIS application, but this means tying up with progammers whose business fortune, and therefore their support, is fleeting at best. The commercially available CSIS applications cost way too much for our very limited financial resources. Our present system is composed of card files, paper files, and computer documents and spreadsheets scattered throughout the registrar and accounting departments. The school has only two IT personnel and they basically do only hardware and software maintenance. Our experience with Python and Zope Database programming is nil. Attached please find samples for Report on Promotion and Student's Permanent Record as required by the Department of Education at the end of each school year. We would very much like to use freedom software as a basis for this mission critical application. We will be most grateful if you can guide us on how we can accomplish the above mentioned reports through SchoolTool. Truly yours, Dodi Malay E.C.E.
