RaiMan proposed the following answer:
--1. the example is for Mac (there is no spotlight feature on Windows)

--2. Sikuli uses images (.png), to find something on the screen, that
might be clicked afterwards. So the image has to be the captured image
of the icon on the desktop, if your goal is, to click this icon.

--3. Before trying things in Java, it is recommended, to use the Sikuli
IDE, to get a feeling for the basic features and workflows of Sikuli.
