My main concern was that MOST people would download the new version and be confused by the difference in API. 

I can't quite figure it out from the API, I'm not really a programmer :(

I am trying to build an interface for people to code data with and they
need control over the flow.  There are multiple ways to search for a
document, for example, it was simpler to make a call to .dialog.    I
would love to have the previous/next stuff if there was documentation.
