RaiMan proposed the following answer:
the cmakelist files are spread all over the place ;-)

- make a build folder
- go to the build folder
- run cmake ..

Then you get your distributed make files, that contain everything.

BTW: the directives for the native make targets are in
src/main/native/cmakelist.txt
