Today I started with a Windows 8.1 Pro 64-Bit and successfully setup my dev environment:
- Java 7 64 Bit (45)
- Netbeans 7.4
- VS Express 2013
... and some other stuff

Until now it looks promising (setup 1.0.1 works and IDE runs).

---  as there is no compatible 64 bit java for windows 8 ...
... is that official? where can I read that?
