Greg Howell confirmed that the question is solved:
Actually I'll go ahead an close this out myself.  You can actually do a
paste() in a putty window and then immediately follow it by a
rightClick(region) and it will work fine.  You just have to make sure
you aren't pasting twice in the window because the second paste will
actually type a "^V" in the window and then if you try to rightClick
after that to paste your text, it will paste the text but that ^V will
be there first and mess up your command.
