Hi RaiMan,
I did as you suggested, after the script failed i pasted the contents of the clipboard into a notepad. The value 60 was pasted. I retested the script by popping up the values of clipboard. Eventhough the popup showed a blank dialog box, when i pasted the contents of the clipboard into notepad, 60 was pasted.

I further tested my script by replacing the formula in the cell (=
COUNTA(A11:A1001)) with the value 60. The error persists. The error
persisted even with string values.

I was using Java 6 on my machine. I installed Java 7 and tried running the script again. But the error still persists. 
Can you please use any other excel like application and test this scenario.
