Re: [Question #248704]: Sikuli in the cloud/headless machine

Question #248704 on Sikuli changed:

tombrus posted a new comment:
@RaiMan:
The main challenge will be to get a (virtual) mac screen up on the headless slave. For the rest my approach above would do the trick I guess. The xvfb would probably work (Mac is linux after all) but it will not give you a genuine Mac desktop but an X11 desktop. I do not know how a MacMini behaves when no monitor is connected, there is a display card so there might be a screen from the software point of view....

In addition to my previous post: a step I did not mention is to start a
window manager on the xvfb screen, I use fluxbox. I start it for every
test and kill it when the test is done. This should ideally be a feature
of the xvfb plugin, I guess. This again is not relevant for your MacMini
setup.

Just googled a bit, you could use a dummy HDMI plug (http://www.fit-
pc.com/web/products/accessories/fit-headless/) to force a certain
solution. The description of this device suggests that without anything
in the HDMI port the MacMini will switch to some basic resolution:
"Works well to force 'headless' Mac mini into higher resolution". If
that is indeed the case you might have an easy job!

Keep us informed!

PS I wish I could run virtual Macs in AWS..... ;-)
