Hmm interesting, not sure why it wouldn't work on my mac.  And yes, it
is the latest 1.1.4 from
https://raiman.github.io/SikuliX1/downloads.html.

All I'm doing is  - plain import of the sikuli api jar -  like you
suggested -

require $PROJECT_PATH + 'sikulixapi.jar'
require 'Lib/sikulix'
include Sikulix
