Title:
simple-scan generates corrupted pdf files then crashes

Status in Simple Scan:
  Expired

Bug description:
  System : Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick
Simple-scan versions : 2.32.0-0Ubuntu4 and -0Ubuntu1 as well (as badly, in fact)
  Printer : Brother MFC-5890CN
Scanning one single page and saving in pdf works but then, scanning a new page makes simple-scan crash.
Scanning directly a multipage document then saving in pdf generates a non-readable document and most of the times crashes afterwards.
I then have to restart the printer to make it recognized by Sane.
  This is CATASTROPHIC for me.
Happily, I still can use Xsane, but I waste time and the result is not so good,..
