For those of you using Jaunty and having issues using the microphone, a new
version of pulseaudio
has been released, and Jaunty packages are available here:

https://launchpad.net/~themuso/+archive/ppa

For those using skype, the new version is supposed to make it possible to
set up your input device
in the mixer and set all devices in Skype (or any other program) to
pulseaudio.

Haven't tested it myself though,
