Problem with GRUB

I've been using a dual boot option with Vista and Ubuntu 8.10 without trying
the Nvidia drivers.  I recently tried to boot into Ubuntu but I can't seem
to get to the Ubuntu screen.  I just go to a GRUB prompt in DOS.  None of
its options lead to a Ubuntu screen.  Could anyone provide some suggestions?
