Hi again,
happy to hear it works.
But don't be so happy. Disabling acpi is a bad hack since it disables
many useful systems and lower baterry time. We should get acpi working
AND the switch not unitializing to be really happy.
The acpi is necessary to get more battery time and some infos about
the temperature, the possibility to shutdown correctly (in my case,
acpi=ht disables something which force me to shutdown manually at the
end of the shutdown process).
However, I agree it's useful when you need to be on nvidia for some moment.

anyone else needs it:
$sudo gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst
In the kernel line add "acpi=ht"
Reboot into WinXP
Reboot into Linux
Done.
