Ther eis a reason why the test to become Debian Developer involves
the skills questions, they are quite hard at times, so at the end
you know quite well at least some things ;-)

Yes, that is done via diversions and dpkg honors these diversions.

Please do also some tests with upgrading while runningn on nvidia!!!!
I never tested that one since I am 99% running intel, so I am not sure
about that.

Not really. For gdm start the link of libglx is important, that is right.
But if you later start an OpenGL game it will tell you that the library
is wrong.
I had this quite often because I update my system dails with aptitude
while running X, and at smoe stage ldconfig is called.
After taht starting glxinfo gives you the info that the libGL is wrong
and hardware accelaration is disabled.
