        You can just unzip it and find the different amss.mbn and apps.mbn under
WWAN_Driver_R5_Generic_1.x_32bit-64bit [E] 6.0 - 6.0.6.3_ALL\72-VJ725-4_1.0.12\Source\Packages


But there are 10 different amss.mbn files and I still do not know which one is right one.
In your case you can try to extract the MSI file with
msiexec /a PathToMSIFile /qb TARGETDIR=DirectoryToExtractTo
and try to search for the right firmware file.

In addition I still cannot use the Qualcom modem because of the gobi_loader - kernel problem for kernels > 2.6.31
