Ahhh, that explains one thing - I never use the packages because I'm
impatient and like to get the latest drivers direct from NVidia. I didn't even
think of the packaged versions but obviously those packages would be designed
to work with the alternatives system ( or even if not dpkg divert would work.
) So, for Ubuntu users your method is going to be fine ( and preferable ) but
ONLY if they use the nvidia-current packages.

It also explains why you couldn't get my script working - I didn't
realise before but from what you are saying the debs use different directories
for the NVidia GL files ( makes sense to make it easier for alternatives to
work. ) However, the NVidia installer just over-writes the standard system
files :(.

It should be fairly easy to get my script to work with either set, but to
get alternatives to work with the NVidia installer would ( I think ) be more
complicated.

If we can get confirmation from someone that your method works for them
and you can knock up a simple README then I'm happy to put them in my files
directory so that we have everything in one place if you like - as I said if
the constraints are met then your method is much neater and less prone to go
wrong :)

Adam.
