Wakeup on opening lid
I have a VGN-Z570AN, and have been using all the enhancements provided
by this group.
One thing that never functioned totally to my satisfaction was the
combination lid-sleep. Using gnome power settings, I configured the
laptop to go to sleep when the lid closed. This always worked well.
On the other hand, one thing was never satisfactory: when the lid was
open, it would not wake up. It was necessary to push the power
button. That was inconvenient, but the sort of thing that one get
used to, and doesn't fret about.
Then a weird thing happened. I use Ubuntu, and update regularly. One
day, after one update of 10.04, opening the lid initiated a wakeup.
That was cool, what I always wanted! Then, a few months later, after
another update, it was back to the old behavior. Now, at this point
it was nasty, a downgrade.
I can assert confidently that in neither case I fiddled directed with
the power settings or acpi behavior. The change of behavior was
totally a consequence of Ubuntu's update - I have no idea what was
changed.
The point is, I don't know if it is a kernel problem, acpi problem,
Vaio specific or Ubuntu specific. I hope somebody here can give me
some pointers.
Regards,
Arnaldo
