Re: Microphone issues - VPCZ139GG

Appreciate all the effort in this gentlemen: I should add that I'm also
having issues on a VPC-Z12CGX where I can get a little bit if I turn things
way up and talk directly into the mic you can hear a very faint recording.

Plugging in a headset with integrated mic into the headphone port results in
the same operation.

However I should add that using a headset in the headphone port used to work
back on my 10.10 install. I used to use it for google voice all the time.
Now not so much luck.

I did recently get a new headset but I just yesterday finally boot into
windows and test and it does work there. Took like 15 tries to remember
what the heck the password on that windows install was and I wasn't even
about to spend the time to install the updates it wanted. ;)

Yap, thanks!

Since my laptop has ALC889 sound-chip ( cat /proc/asound/pcm ), so according
to the file /usr/share/doc/alsa-base/driver/HD-Audio-Models.txt.gz it should
be

options snd-hda-intel model=sony-vaio-tt

or

options snd-hda-intel model=auto

Nevertheless mic doesn't work :(

dmesg shows the following:

[ 3209.796352] HDA Intel 0000:00:1b.0: PCI INT A -> GSI 16 (level, low) ->
IRQ 16
[ 3209.796432] HDA Intel 0000:00:1b.0: irq 45 for MSI/MSI-X

[ 3274.032893] hda-intel: IRQ timing workaround is activated for card #1.
Suggest a bigger bdl_pos_adj.

Maybe it can give some insight to gurus on this list.

Thanks in advance!

Best regards,
Alex
