Hi Nico,

I'm also using new VAIO Z21 series and Precise Pangolin pre-alpha... ;)

But unfortunately I didn't need any grub parameters like "nomodeset"  
and so... :S
If you had installed oneiric via "Power-Media-Dock", try onother  
optical drive to install. I installed it via USB pendrive and looks  
perfect to boot up.


And I also have git based Mesa/GL packages for oneiric managed by Oibaf:

These packages would work fine on oneiric and also precise as well.
