Re: Linux on VPC-Z21
Hi,
i have a Sony VPC-Z21 with the external PMD (Dockingstation with an ATI Radeon
HD 6700M).
After reading trough the mailing list and different bug-entries i have a
semi-functional installation :/
With Kernel 3.2RC7 the following things are working:
- The F-keys (F3,F4,F5,F6,F7,F12)
- Suspend
- Audio
- Wlan (with intel wireless enabled in kernel)
- Intel gfx with 3d
- clickpad is working (after the description from DoTheDog)
- PMD is only working if it is connect before booting
- PMD Network, USB, CD
- VGA direct from the notebook
- ASSIST and WEB Key
That is not working:
- Key "VAIO" is not working (no events with xev)
- Radeon Card in the PMD (Dockingstation)
The bad thing is, that without the radeon card there is no dual monitor
configuration :(
I was digging around and found this bug-reports, which could be helpful:
- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=40576
- http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.linux.usb.general/55899
I tried the radeon and the fglx driver and none of them with success.
In dmesg it got this messages:
[ 41.336665] [Firmware Bug]: Duplicate ACPI video bus devices for the same VGA
controller, please try module parameter "video.allow_duplicates=1"if the current
driver doesn't work.
and

i don't know what to do. if i don't get a dual monitor configuration to work, i
have to send the notebook back or worse i have to use windows ;/
thanks and a happy new year
