Hey Jack,
We are using LightDM, as there were issues with using XDM and SLiM. 
Though with the new startup scripts we are using, I think those earlier
issues would (at least for XDM) be mitigated.  However, with XDM there
was no autologin feature, SLiM might work better now, but I do not think
we need to spend time trying it out.

I use Numix GTK for the LightDM screen, so the update to the PPA might
fix this issue as well.  Though I admit I have not noticed it myself. 
My base OS is not autologin.  The installed one (most recent) is
autologin, because I had to work to get it correct for Debian, and
needed to test it.
