Hey everyone,

please test this new ISO.

It is a bit bigger, but it should fix the major issues we had with the
menu and needing certain gvfs programs installed.

Let me know how it goes, I tested the previous (larger) ISO, but I
haven't rebooted yet to try this one out.

Thanks!

Hi Israel,

I'm testing

698M 2016-08-13 18:01 "ToriOS-Debian-daily.iso"

in my Toshiba with Intel i5 (and Intel graphics).

1. Live

- The menus are shown correctly, but at least two of the menu items do not work for me:

. Screenie. (It used to work for me, but now when I run 'screenie' in a terminal window, it prints

I suppose I should remove the screenshot tool from the live session. I do not want to include another program and risk it growing too much. I'd rather slim the live session a bit than have to scrape and skimp to get it the right size. Currently I can do it reasonably well, and don't want to ADD anything else, unless it is extremely needed. plus I can do these simple changes without having to really rebuild everything, I can do the quick mkISO script after editing the chroot filesystem manually
[ERROR] import is not installed!!

. Shutdown Computer. (I'm not sure when it stopped working; it used to work for me. But the 'Shutdown' desktop icon works now.)

The shutdown issue can be easily fixed. I refreshed the jwmrc for the live session and forgot to remove jwm-settings-manager --halt from that entry.

Very easy to fix. I will use:
torios-shutown || systemctl poweroff || shutdown -h now
Which is basically what the shutdown desktop icon has

I tested torios-shutdown in it earlier today and that worked well in that ISO.

2. Installing

I tested at the advanced OBI level (via 'Partition drives and install alongside current OS')

- Successful (I installed the PAE kernel)

Thanks for testing that item still, I haven't tested it in a while, but I am glad to know for sure that it still works (it hasn't changed in a long while)

3. Installed system

- The prompt in terminal windows was grey until I selected

Options - More - Set Palette - Tango

This is a minor but recurring bug. Right now it works in the live system, but not in the installed system.

The terminal is set to Sakura's default settings in the installed system.
we use xterm in the live system, so it uses the bashrc file nicely.
Sakura is a small tabbed terminal so that is the main reason we include it in the installed system, because really that is where you need it most.
- Screenie works in the installed system

[imagemagick] display works (I displayed a snapshot made with screenie).

- Shutdown presents a window with several options, and it works.

*. This was no thorough test, but the general impression is that this iso file is working well. I hope it will be easy to fix the remaining few issues that I found, and that Jack, Ali and you will find, and that the iso file will stay within CD size :-)

Best regards
Nio
Yeah these are really simple things to fix, and will take very little time to do.
