Is it worth adding a freenode webchat link on the website,  there is a
simple way to add a link to the channel and auto join,  when setting up
you get the option of allowing a user to specify a nick name or have one
auto generated which can be set when you set up, as in guest1 for example.

I have done this for the Devon and Cornwall LUG irc channel
