Yes 'my' network-manager works automatically with wired and and wireless
connections (provided that the hardware is recognized and has a free
driver; otherwise a driver must be installed).

Don't install what you don't like. If you like Seamonkey (better than
Midori), use it. People can install whatever browser they like
afterwards anyway. And for 14.04, use Qupzilla.
