Hi Paul,
It is probably not a major issue right now, but as the newer computers
age we will have to deal with this.
I know that is many years off, so this is more of something of interest
rather than need.
Also, Ali has talked about making a 64bit version... so maybe we could
make a 64bit version that will work for EFI computers as well.
Some people just want a lightweight OS.  Not everyone wants
Unity/Gnome/KDE/Xfce on their sparkling new computers :)
And some people just want a traditional desktop... which JWM fits this
paradigm perfectly... though it can be extended to use the more modern
search based launchers...  there are a few 3rd party ones available.
