[Bug 1342782] [NEW] man mv should mention rename(1)

 

Public bug reported:

in addition to rename(2), man mv should mention rename(1) under "see
also".

(mv will just do a rename(2) if that succeeds, but if the rename fails
mv blithely barrels into copying any volume of data.  but it looks like
rename(1) offers a more constrained alternative.)
