[Bug 1350982] Re: Unity Crashes on Resume From Suspend When Display is Attached While in Suspend
Yes, but I'm not exactly sure what's failing.
The only thing I see in the lightdm logs when it happens is in
"x-0.log":
(EE) : Read error 19
(II) AIGLX: Suspending AIGLX clients for VT switch

Title:
Unity Crashes on Resume From Suspend When Display is Attached While in
Suspend
Status in Unity:
Incomplete
Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Background:
The affected machine is a Asus Q501LA laptop with no discrete graphics card.
CPU is a i5-4200U and the on-die graphics is an Intel HD 4400.
External monitor is a PB278Q connected via the HDMI port on the laptop; it's resolution is 2560 x 1440.
Description of the problem:
The machine recognizes the monitor, flashes black for a moment, and
then displays a tiled copy of the log in screen across both monitors.
Bluetooth touchpad is functional, but clicking any copy of the "gear"
power management icons does nothing, and I cannot type in the password
prompt. Only workarounds are hard restart, or drop to tty and restart
lightdm.
Misc. Additional information:
Monitor is set up to the right of the laptop, with the monitor
adjusted so that it's bottom edge is flush with the bottom edge of the
laptop- that's mirrored in software. The monitor's vertical resolution
is taller, so there's "empty space" above the top of the laptop's
screen. In screenshots it's black (example attached.)
