[Bug 1352525] [NEW] No HDMI audio output

Public bug reported:

I have an ASUS N550JV laptop with Intel HD Graphics 4600 and Nvidia
GeForce GT 750M GPUs. I'm not using Nvidia GPU, the rendering is done on
the integrated GPU. When I connect the laptop to a Panasonic Vega TV
through HDMI I get video output on the TV but no sound. I have selected
the HDMI output in pavucontrol (the HDMI output is marked as "plugged
in" there) and I can see the sound is directed to HDMI. I also tried to
disable pulseaudio and use aplay to test ALSA output but there is still
no sound.

'aplay -l' output:

**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: HDMI [HDA Intel HDMI], device 3: HDMI 0 [HDMI 0]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: HDMI [HDA Intel HDMI], device 7: HDMI 1 [HDMI 1]

card 1: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 0: ALC668 Analog [ALC668 Analog]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

For all card 0 devices I tried this command line:

aplay -D plughw:0,N /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Right.wav

and got no sound nor errors. I remember the sound was working at some
point (I think 13.10 was installed at that time).
