[Bug 1250407] Re: printer has stopped working. "Filter failed"
@5 I can't try, because as I already mentioned, I fixed the issue long
ago by reinstalling the printer.
However, I can see how the printer icon looks like if I unckeck the
"enabled" item in the context menu: a "pasue"-like symbol show up over
the printer, and this was NOT the case when the bug happened.
Also note I had rebooted several times, and switched the printer off and
on, and disconnected and reconnected it. All of these should definitely
reset whatever printer status needs to reset, and if they don't,
something is broken.
So whether or not manually "resuming" the printer would work (which I'm
99% sure it wouldn't, as it was not shown as paused), that doesn't in
any case change the fact that this is a bug.

Title:
printer has stopped working. "Filter failed"
Status in “cups” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
My printer was working fine until yesterday.
A printing job was interrupted with a good reason because I
disconnected the usb. However, I then reconnected the printer and
rebooted, and cancelled the pending job.
Now the printer doesn't print any more.
Whenever I try, the printer icon appears in the notification area, and if I click on it, the printer is listed as "paused".
If I select it, the "Document print status" shows the job as "pending".
If I go to "Printers", the printer is shown with a green checkmark. If
I double click it to see "Printer Properties", under the "Settings"
tab, under "Printer State" it says: "Stopped - Filter failed"
Unplugging and replugging the printer doesn't fix the issue, nor does
turning it off and on again, cancelling and restarting the printing
job.
