get recent report of the problem, also it seems to work correctly now,
closing. Feel free to reopen if you can still reproduce in more recent
versions

Title:
  upgrade window lost during upgrade to 12.04 after alt-tab

Bug description:
  I pressed alt-tab during the upgrade from 11.10 to 12.04. Now I see my
  background but nothing else.

  When I left for work this morning my disk was still working so I left
  it on.
