[Bug 1440268] [NEW] [regression] python2.7 again on the desktop images

 

Public bug reported:

the python and python2.7 packages are again on the desktop images. we
had a 14.04 LTS release which only relied on python3 for the desktop.
Please don't release 15.04 with python2 on the desktop images.

trying to remove python2 from the desktop results in:

$ sudo apt-get remove python
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree       
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
 indicator-bluetooth : Depends: unity-control-center but it is not going to be installed or
                                gnome-control-center but it is not going to be installed or
                                ubuntu-system-settings but it is not going to be installed
E: Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused by held packages.

something is messy, please lets fix it.
