Message #77359
[Bug 1453894] [NEW] Trackpad and External mouse non-responsive.
Public bug reported:
-Based on wiki.ubuntu.com, I should file this against HAL.
-This problem went away for the past year, but as of ~last week, the trackpad stops responding all together after minutes of having booted or returning from sleep (and often times neither of those things brings the trackpad back to life).
-The problem is not (no longer?) intermittent; if the trackpad is functioning, I can count on it to stop functioning after ~minutes of use. Once it's dead, I can only hope that a reboot/sleep will resurrect it.
-This has been a recurrent issue with my particular machine, a Lenovo U300s; it was so bad to begin with that I had a technician come twice to check/replace the hardware.
-External mice have almost never worked on either USB port (even though lsusb properly identifies the manufacturer/device).
-**Two things have occurred that may have triggered this**, with the
first being the most suspicious: 1) I accidentally let the battery drain
completely from the laptop 2) There were a series of kernel upgrades
that happened this month. Both of these things occurred at/around the
time when this problem started again, but because I have reason to
suspect both things, I don't know what might actually be at fault. I
will try draining the battery entirely again (leaving the boot select
menu open in the BIOS screen), as well as physically disconnecting the
battery.
