Public bug reported:

It does not matter if you select "Lock to Launcher" or not.
Upon exiting Android Studio editor, the icon would disappear.
Creating the .desktop file manually, also solves the problem only partially:
upon clicking on the Android Studio icon, yet another Android Studio icon would appear in the bottom of the Unity bar  --  see screenshot attached (look at the icon with a green calipers).
