It does if you escape it:-

eg: curl -s "https://search.apps.ubuntu.com/api/v1/search?q=Wrap\!"; | jq
.

Maybe you should escape it? :)

Status in unity-scope-click package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Open app store on device (I'm using krillin with OTA-4)

  Type "Pop that wrap!" in the search term and you should find this app
  https://uappexplorer.com/app/pop-that-wrap.mivoligo

  Expectation

  * App is found

  Actual

  * App is not found

  Note: remove the exclamation point from the search and the app is
  found.
