Creation of the U+1 Team Council / Change of Ownership in U+1 Team

Hello everyone,

I'd like to let you know that I have created the "*U+1-Team-Council*" in Launchpad and*transfered the ownership* of the U+1 Team to this Council. The LP URL is *https://launchpad.net/~u+1-team-council*
*
Why?*
When someone creates a Team in LP, as I did with U+1, LP automatically grants *ownership with full rights to the team founder.* Those of you that have read the Team Wiki (*wiki.ubuntu.com/U+1*) know that this team, unlike others, was designed to be a solid, democratic, meritocratic, self-managed, community-oriented and long-lasting structure. In order to outlast other communities that eventually fall apart quickly, it had to start right, with these values solidly embedded in its plan and with clearly defined processes. I feel I have contributed my best to define most of that in the team formation plan and, now, it is time for me to step down as a way to ensure the team values.

I'll continue to work as hard as I can to create alliances, gather support and endorsement from other teams, groups and individuals, promote our team within the community and help with everything I can. This won't change.

*Future
*We have quickly reached *30* members in our team. We continue to grow effortlessly, every week. In the last two weeks I have dedicated a large portion of my time to identify community members that show interest in Ubuntu, have advanced skills or a strong will to learn and contribute. I have found *68 *potential members only in a first round of headhunting: people that are (or have been) regulars at *Ubuntu+1* (OO and PP cycles) as well as users that operate in other areas of UF. I'll define a process with *Cariboo907* to invite these members and (hopefully) have them join the team. Our team is already bigger than many others, including some unofficial "QA-Centric teams" and communities of testers. The community shows interest in what we're doing and respect for our initiative. It is clear for me that U+1 will continue to grow and solidify in upcoming cycles.

Many within our team have Ubuntu Memberships, and most are accomplished and recognized community leaders and helpers. I trust that people that have signed the *Ubuntu Code of Conduct*, have been recognized for their contributions to Ubuntu and/or are community leaders will not let the team derail from its initial plan.

As we move from *PP* to the *QQ* cycle, we will have elections for the Team Leadership and Council positions. We will also ask *all* our members to vote on team activities and priorities for the new cycle. Once we go through this process and a council is defined (elected), I'll be responsible for approving their membership to the "*U+1 Team Council*" team. My position, in this council is, again, temporary. It will cease to exist once council members are elected. According to our processes, current and previous team leaders have a seat in the council. Therefore, I have already added *Cariboo907* to it.

I'll be communicating this change to the Ubuntu Community Council directly and via our Team Report.

Please, feel free to ask me directly if you have any doubts or concern about this process.

Thanks,
/Alvaro "Effenberg0x0" Leal/
