Had another thought: a very prominent link on the web-site front page
saying something like" Are you here because you've seen the advert?
Come here first" .... and the link takes you to a page for someone who
has no idea at all what Ubuntu actually is.  Brief explanation of
Ubuntu, with attractive screenshots and links to personal stories from
enthusiasts.
